Epoxy Flooring vs Concrete Paint: What’s the Difference?

Concrete paint and a professionally installed epoxy system can look similar in a photo, but the preparation, build and expected performance are very different.

Concrete paint is a surface coating

Concrete paint is commonly rolled onto a cleaned surface as a straightforward cosmetic update. It may be suitable for light-duty areas, but tyres, abrasion and outdoor exposure can reveal its limits.

Epoxy is a complete floor system

A professional system starts with slab assessment and mechanical preparation. Base coats, decorative flakes and topcoats are selected to work together for the intended use.

That preparation and system build are why epoxy is commonly chosen for garages, workshops and high-use concrete areas.

Choose based on use, not appearance alone

Consider vehicle traffic, sun, moisture, cleaning chemicals, slip resistance and how long you expect the finish to last. An on-site assessment makes those trade-offs clear.
